Introduction

Edward Hancock II often describes himself as a man of destiny. Most people are born with no clue as to their life’s purpose. They mutter through life, attend college, join the military or family industry of choice or even start a succession of small business ventures, none of which quite fulfill them in the end. That is not Edward. To hear him tell it, he was born burdened with a profound, passionate and steadfast sense of purpose. For Edward, he was seemingly born knowing his life was destined to involve the written word.

Born with Spina Bifida, Edward’s early days weren’t spent running and jumping and climbing trees. Rather, his days were spent watching others run, jump, climb trees, succeed at sports and physical pursuits he could only dream of tackling.

At the age of nine, he wrote what he considers to be his first real short story -- A story with coherent form and flow, a discernible beginning, middle and end, real conflict and characters as unique as a child of nine was capable of creating.

He’s gotten older now. His stories have gotten longer and – he hopes – better. His audiences have grown from a doting mother to thousands of adoring fans, eager for his next tome – Fiction and Non-Fiction alike. But the dream remains as powerful as ever, his purpose as profound as it was when he wrote that first short story all those years ago.

Who is Edward Hancock II?

  • He's an Author

Writing what he considers to be his first real short story at age nine, Edward Hancock II has spent decades authoring articles, novels, non-fiction stories and even dabbling in poetry. Though he’d be the first to admit poetry is not his best area. However, art isn’t really about training and mechanics. In the end, art is about the artist and those with whom the artist shares it. For Edward, it is less about plan and more about purpose.

  • He's a Genealogist

Edward Hancock II fell in love with researching his family tree around the same time he found appreciation for the written word. With an ever-expanding family tree consisting of tens of thousands, Edward now lectures and teaches others about the importance of knowing who you are and recording the past for future generations. Their stories are our stories. It’s important those stories be told before they are lost.

  • He's an American Patriot

A true Texan-American, Edward Hancock II was born with Spina Bifida. As such, he never had the honor of serving in the military. Still, his heart beats for Old Glory, the United States Military and the Lone Star State. He can’t stand for the Pledge of Allegiance or the National Anthem, but no disabled man has ever sat so straight. America is not just Edward’s home. It truly is where his heart is, and ever will be.
